What is a service residence?
In a service residence, you have your own individual flat and benefit from ancillary services provided on site by the residence's staff. The aim is simple: to give you maximum independence while allowing you to benefit from the assistance you require.
What does the residence offer?
In addition to accommodation, there are three kinds of services in a serviced residence.
Firstly, services that must be provided (cleaning of the premises, access to multi-purpose rooms, maintenance of equipment, etc.), which are included in the price of your accommodation.
Secondly, the services that must be provided (3 meals a day, cleaning of your private accommodation, cleaning of your linen, etc.) which are available at an additional cost to your accommodation price.
Finally, there are the optional services, which represent the home help offered by the residence, and which cost extra.
What am I obliged to do if I go to a service residence?
You will be asked to sign and agree to a number of documents detailing how the service residence will operate during your stay, and the terms and conditions of your stay.
There are three important documents;
The agreement
This is an agreement between you and the residence. It sets out the general and specific terms and conditions of accommodation, as well as the price (daily and monthly), the list of services covered and details of any supplements. You cannot be charged for something that is not included, for example.
The house rules
These include a copy of the two documents mentioned above, as well as an individual sheet containing important information about you, the services ordered by the resident and those provided, and a copy of the detailed invoices sent to the resident.
These two documents must be signed by you or your authorised representative before you are admitted to the residence, except in urgent cases.
Confidential file
This describes how the residence-services works, as well as your rights and obligations, and those of the residence-services towards you!
In this way, the residence undertakes to enable you to lead a life of human dignity, and to do its utmost to implement the life project it proposes.
It also contains important information, such as the name of the manager, who must be available for any comments you may have on the life of the residence. His working hours are given in the regulations.
You will also find contact details for the residence services.
What can I do?
As a resident of a service residence, you are guaranteed the greatest possible freedom, as long as this does not harm other residents.
You may move around freely unless your attending physician advises otherwise in writing and your legal representative gives written consent.
No measure of constraint may be taken against you without a substantiated medical reason, and it must be carried out with the strictest respect for your rights.
No obligation of a commercial, cultural, religious, political or linguistic nature may be imposed on you.
What about visitors?
You may receive anyone you wish every day of the week (even on Sundays and public holidays!). However, the residence may ask you to keep quiet after 10 p.m. so as not to disturb the neighbours.
About privacy...
All visitors and members of staff must inform you before entering your flat in order to respect your privacy.
Am I entitled to the same care once I'm in the residence?
Of course!
You can always consult your own :
- Doctor
- Paramedical and physiotherapy staff
- Pharmacist
They have free access to the establishment at the times agreed with the director and specified in your agreement.
Safety
Serviced residences must be equipped with a general fire detection system with an annual maintenance contract.
Electrical installations, fire detectors, lighting, lifts and escalators are all checked once a year, as well as in the event of major repairs.
